Irene

collection: retrospective
inspiration: 1912, Irene Castle
materials: silk charmeuse, embroidred satin, venetian lace appliques
colors: ivory
price: 1400

This dress is modeled after an authentic 1912 evening gown pattern. This was a turning point in fashion, at the dawn of the art deco period, when women began to wear extravagantly draped gowns with lavish embellishments. Irene Castle, the woman who introduced the U.S. to the tango, set the stye with dramatic costumes. This gown has yards of silk charmeuse that drape softly and part to the side to reveal an under-layer of richly beaded and embroidered satin in a lovely floral pattern. The bodice has a draped cross-over v-neck with beaded venetian appliques at the empire waist. Perfect for the bride with a dramatic flair!
