collection: art moderne inspiration: Georgia O’Keefe materials: silk organza colors: natural white, ivory price: 800 This gown takes it inspiration from Georgia O’Keefe’s intimate paintings of flowers. Her use of organic shapes and translucent colors is captured in this softly flowing gown is made of silk organza over silk crepe de chine. A hand made flower forms the centerpiece at the neck, gathering the gown in a high halter neck. I re-discovered an old technique used by victorian women to make silk flowers by burning the edges, which I used to finish the edges of the flowers, ruffles, and even hemline. This leaves a variegated and slightly browned burnt edge which creates an organic and unusual effect. |
